A Sulana

Formerly known as: YII and Shogun

About a Sulana

This slender and elegant sailing yacht now baptized A Sulana, carried several names such as YII (2006-2014) and Shogun (2014-2018) since she first saw the light of day in 2006 in Zaandam.

Naval architect Bill Dixon from Dixon Yacht Design has perfectly captured her (first) owner’s desire for a sleek, uncluttered yacht with a contemporary, minimalistic appearance. A low profile deckhouse and a range of features such as a concealed bimini and dodger, semi-recessed headsail furlers, a ‘through hull’ anchor system, pop up cleats, deck-recessed Genoa tracks and concealed hinges for the hatches, are just a few examples of ways this minimalistic appearance was achieved.

Performance

With a performance as impressive as her appearance, this 37 metre (121 ft) yacht was nominated for Best Sailing Yacht in the 30m to 44m size range for the Boat International Awards in Venice 2007.

Her aluminium hull and low weight of 152 tons make her strong, well balanced, elegant and fast. Thanks to the 500hp (368kW) strong Lugger L6140 diesel engine, A Sulana cruises at 10.5 knots and reaches a topspeed of 12 knots. A single screw propeller is used for propulsion.

Interior

Though her minimalistic look can come across as modest, A Sulana is nothing short of a superb luxurious yacht, waiting for her guest to be pampered. John Munford designed a modern yet warm interior, with use of pear and wenge wood blends to contrast the light white panels throughout the ship. Beautifully crafted materials such as woven leather panels are used to accentuate the walls.
A Sulana can hold up to 8 guests in 2 double and 2 twin rooms. She also accommodates up to 5 crew members in 1 captain’s and 2 crew cabins. Whichever room you stay in, A Sulana offers a comfortable stay where guests can immerse themselves in luxury, thanks to the extensive list of options to reach the highest level of comfort possible.
