S/Y Palmyre
About Palmyre
Launched in 2000, Palmyre is the first Truly Classic 80 built by Holland Jachtbouw, embodying the timeless elegance that defines the Truly Classic series designed by Hoek Design. Built for an experienced Dutch owner, Palmyre stands out with her many distinguishing features that make her unique in a crowded market.
One of her notable characteristics is her deck, fitted with a series of skylights. These skylights allow natural light to fill the interior, creating a bright and airy atmosphere in the saloon, with a warm Mediterranean feel. Her interior, designed with great attention to detail, reflects the luxurious and sophisticated approach that Hoek Design is renowned for, blending traditional aesthetics with modern comfort.
Equipped with hydraulic winches, Palmyre makes sail trimming easy, allowing adjustments at the push of a button—even with your feet. Her sailing setup ensures that despite her classic lines, she is simple to handle and can be sailed by a smaller crew, making her perfect for both cruising and more active sailing.
In line with Holland Jachtbouw’s philosophy, Palmyre’s hull design draws inspiration from legendary naval architects of the past, such as Fife, Watson, Herreshoff, and Nicholson. Her hull form is based on the elegant, short waterlines that characterized the great yachts of the early 20th century, which lengthen dynamically as she heels in a breeze, enhancing her performance while maintaining her graceful lines.
Palmyre is also constructed from lightweight aluminum, with a teak deck that adds to her aesthetic appeal and practicality. Her performance is balanced with comfort, offering luxury accommodation for six guests across three cabins, with space for two crew members. Below deck, the design maximizes space and comfort, creating an open and inviting feel while ensuring privacy for all on board.
Built in just 15 months, Palmyre quickly became a point of interest upon her launch and was even nominated for the International Superyacht Design Award for best interior design in 2002. She reflects the craftsmanship and innovation that Holland Jachtbouw is known for, combining traditional naval architecture with modern technology, making her an icon in the Truly Classic fleet.
Palmyre is not just a yacht, but a statement of style and performance, representing the best in classic yacht design, and continues to sail with grace and power, delivering unforgettable experiences on the water.
